IN CHARACTER
Name: Adara Carey Surana
Canon: Dragon Age series (specifically Dragon Age: Origins)
Canon Point: 9:41 Dragon, AKA the beginning of Dragon Age: Inquisition (in which The Warden, Adara in this case, has disappeared from the public eye.)
Age: Approximately 35 years old.
History: Here is a general summary of The Warden, more specifically known as the Hero of Ferelden from Dragon Age: Origins, which is the first game in a series currently comprising three games. (The Warden makes no appearance in the sequels and is specifically said to be missing, or at least doing a good job of hiding from everyone, by the third game.) Her specific class origin story can be found here though it should be noted she is an elf and not a human. Her experiences in the Circle Tower are mostly removed from the racism against elves found throughout the rest of the kingdom of Ferelden, though her experiences as a Grey Warden have very much reminded her. After stopping the Blight as a new Grey Warden, Adara Surana went on to become the Commander of the Grey (commander of all the Grey Wardens) in Ferelden. This was more than just a title: she also earned a noble title (Arlessa of Amaranthine) and essentially became the ruling lady over a segment of the kingdom. This was beyond scandalous for an elven mage. Besides fulfilling her duties as Commander and protecting the kingdom (and the world) from the vicious attacks of nightmarish darkspawn, she also fights to prove herself to the many high-ranking humans who seek to discredit her at every turn. href="http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/The_Warden" a="">
I will happily alter this to reflect any Hawke/Inquisitor/(or other Warden) players, but here is a very brief summary of her specific decisions:
Adara is determined bordering on stubborn, depending on who you ask and under what circumstances. As the middle child of three before she was taken from her family, she has also had a strong sense of responsibility and a need to fuss over others. Once she was taken to the Circle Tower--essentially a prison for people who displayed magical ability, though many argued it was a safe haven--she resisted the changes to her life as hard as she could. She resisted her schooling there and as a child was a terrible student.
As a teenager, though, she found a purpose: if she became a skilled magical healer, she could possibly win her freedom in some fashion (as healers were often requested by members of the nobility). Once she had a goal in mind, she committed herself to it fiercely, pursuing it with an almost single-minded bullheadedness.
Adara is fairly serious and quiet when not in the company of close friends, and she has few of those. A lifetime spent living under the suspicious eyes of her templar guardians has made her wary of others, and she tends to resist making herself vulnerable.
Her reclusive ways were sorely changed and challenged when she was first conscripted by the Grey Wardens and then almost immediately thrust into a leadership position. Elven mages are not respected in Ferelden, and they certainly are not leaders. However, Adara did what she always does when presented with a challenge: she raised her chin and continued doing what she felt she had to. In this case, that meant somehow destroying an army of monsters, saving the kingdom, as well as becoming the Commander of Ferelden's Grey Wardens, an adviser to the king, and in possession of a noble human title and lands.
These circumstances have made her much more confident in her own abilities and much less tolerant of being disrespected now that she has grown used to being seen as a leader.
Abilities/Skills:
Strengths/Weaknesses:
Strengths: Intelligent, resourceful, educated. As she gains more responsibility, she is eager to expand her knowledge base in order to continue to better herself. Surprisingly good leader and strategist (even if she did learn via trial by fire during the Blight). Has a motherly streak.
Weaknesses: Can be prickly and overly proud. Has a hard time minding her own business if she thinks she can help (and of course she can help). Refuses to be told she cannot do something. Sometimes that motherly streak makes her a very fussy mother hen. Is not great at communicating personal feelings. Occasionally has a temper.
Items: She is dressed in her Grey Warden uniform (some kind of combination between the one seen in Dragon Age 2 and the one you could craft in Dragon Age: Inquisition). It's mostly blue and dark gray, with darker trousers and a darker undershirt. The primary visible colors are blue and gray. She has knee-high brown boots and a blue tabard that extends almost to her nears (alternating blue fabric with silvery overlapping metal scales). She also wears a blue-and-gray long-sleeved bolero that fastens across her chest, with elbow-length brown gloves. She also carries a staff roughly as tall as she is, which resembles a simple twisted stick.

Hello? Can anybody hear me? [The voice is decidedly frustrated and somewhat hoarse, as if she has been yelling for hours. There is a dull thump as if a wall has been kicked.] Ow! Maker's tits! [There is a clatter as if a staff been thrown onto the floor.] I have been here for hours! If no one is going to talk to me, why bring me here? I was in the middle of something, you know!

I will happily alter this to reflect any Hawke/Inquisitor/(or other Warden) players, but here is a very brief summary of her specific decisions:
- Female elf mage (whose parents were farmhands in the Arling of Amaranthine)
- Her best friend in the Circle was Jowan, who lied to her about being a blood mage and fled the Tower.
- Adara allowed Jowan to perform a Blood Magic ritual later in order to send Adara into the Fade (the otherworldly realm of Thedas that creates magic) at the cost of Arlessa Isolde's life in order to save the Arlessa's son from demonic possession.
- Adara cleared the Circle Tower of abominations and did not allow the templars to purge the tower.
- Adara found the Urn of Sacred Ashes and ignored the urging of the High Dragon cult: she did not befoul the Ashes.
- She went underground to Orzammar to help the dwarves with their dispute over the throne in order to secure troops, one way or another, to end the darkspawn Blight that was threatening to destroy the entire surface kingdom.
- Adara endorsed Bhelen Aeducan as King of Orzammar, partly because he seemed to have progressive views towards the lowest members of dwarven society and also because good gracious she really needed her pledged troops please.
- She encouraged the Dalish elf Zathrian to remove the werewolf curse on the humans terrorizing his clan.
- Adara and Alistair Theirin engaged in a romance, but Adara stepped back once it became clear they were going to press his claim to the throne. He became king and would have continued their affair and--well, alright, Adara's determination flagged from time to time--but ultimately they parted ways so that Alistair could focus on ruling Ferelden as its king and learning to at least like his new bride, Anora Theirin (nee Mac Tir).
- Loghain Mac Tir, Anora's fatherand ultimately a usurper to the throne after Cailan Theirin's death at the Battle of Ostagar, was slain in a duel between Loghain and Alistair at an official Landsmeet of Ferelden's nobility.
- Adara encouraged Alistair to participate in Morrigan's dark ritual, a ritual that would lead to Morrigan pregnant and ultimately able to absorb the soul of the Archdemon that Grey Wardens Adara and Alistair were going to face in battle, sparing both of their lives.
- In addition to becoming Commander of the Grey, Adara was also one of King Alistair's closest advisers after the darkspawn had been vanquished.

Abilities/Skills:
- Magic. She is an accomplished mage, with a particular skill for healing magic. She was a Spirit Healer on Thedas, bound to a Fade spirit that strengthened her healing abilities. That connection has been severed now that she is no longer part of Thedas, and her while she has managed to keep channeling the magic in the blood, she is far less proficient than she used to be (which frustrates her). She also a knack for earth-related elemental magic.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
